Paul O’Sullivan, Optus Chief Executive, and Jean-Yves Le Gall, Chairman and CEO of Arianespace, announced today in Sydney, Australia that the Optus 10 satellite would be launched into geostationary transfer orbit mid-2013 by an Ariane 5 from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.
The 1,778th flight of a Soyuz launch vehicle was performed on Sunday, 30 October 2011 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 14:11 Moscow time (11:11 Paris time).
The Flight Readiness Review (FFR) for the Vega launcher was held in Frascati, Italy on October 13 and 14. Based on this review, the Director-General of the European Space Agency (ESA) decided to start the Vega qualification launch campaign, with Arianespace’s operating staff providing their support for this campaign.
