Thuraya Starts launching Aeronautical Communication Service

Abu Dhabi, 11th August 2010: In line with its expansion strategy, Thuraya Telecommunications Company announced today the launch of its first satellite aeronautical service, offering reliable and cost-effective voice communications on board all types of aircraft. The initial service offering is based on Thuraya’s compact narrowband terminal which provides voice, fax and 9.6Kbps circuit switch data, as well as GmPRS data at speeds of up to 60 Kbps. Although announced only recently, the solution is already installed and operational onboard over 200 helicopters and business jets.

Thuraya Launches Smallest IP Antenna for Enhanced Speed and Portability

Abu Dhabi, 7th September 2010: To enhance streaming speeds of Thuraya’s IP terminal, the Company has launched a new compact antenna manufactured by the antenna specialist, SCAN Antenna. SCAN Active antenna for Thuraya IP is the smallest in the market and provides 384 Kbps uplink and downlink streaming speeds reliably. This antenna is ideal for many market segments including the broadcast and defense which require portable solutions when streaming from the field and wish to fit this compact unit in their gear.

Thuraya Provides IP Services in Turkey through TEKNOMOBIL

Abu Dhabi, 29th September 2010: Vertical market segments in Turkey such as government, maritime and industry users as well as private customers will now be able to take advantage of Thuraya’s satellite based high-speed data services, Thuraya IP, which is the most competitive broadband terminal in the market. This comes after the signing of a commercial agreement between Thuraya and the Turkish firm TEKNOMOBIL, whereby the latter was appointed as a service provider for Thuraya IP, the world’s smallest and most portable satellite broadband solution.
